Our Missionaries

Jonas & Elizabeth Khanoe

Jonas and Elizabeth have been in full-time ministry for the past 31 years as missionaries. Four years of those were spent at International Hospital Christian Fellowship, and 27 years with Campus Crusade for Christ. They have been blessed with four children, two first were daughters and the two were sons, and the additional two grant daughters. One of their passion has been working with families, and as a result, many marriages in conflicts were reconciled, and the by God’s grace, healing took place. Through Campus Crusade for Christ, the focus was on winning souls for Christ, building them in their faith, and sending them to continue the process according to (2 Timothy 2: 2). The time spent with CCC was incredible.

Jonas finished his doctoral studies in missiology in 2009, and in that process, he did an empirical research in black churches and his findings validated his hypothesis that indeed churches are not living according to God’s plan in a far as their missionary thrust is concerned. Therefore, God has given him a passion to see a vastly growing number of missional churches starting from SA and beyond to discover and execute their unique role in God’s universal Plan. It is my conviction that the churches should live as transformational agents in the world. This will be done through research and development, consultation with church leaders, and training and equipping local churches. Jonas has partnered with the organization called thePlan, the church in motion.  You may visit the website on www.dieplan.org                        jonas@dieplan.org

We joined Youth For Christ in 1990 working in South Africa. After 5 years of service there we moved to Mozambique to pioneer ministry in a country emerging from civil war. Now 13 years later we have stepped out of National Leadership in favor of national leaders who are doing an excellent job of leading this humble ministry into the next era.
In 2002 we moved as a family from Maputo to Xaixai in obedience to a call we felt the Lord had placed on our lives to initiate a place of training, retreat, equipping and inspiring. Hence the BETHEL Centre was born on a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean. Our desire is to see a place that fits the name of BETHEL (the Lords dwelling place), a place where people are at home with the Lord where they can interact with Him, with other Christians, and be equipped and prepared for works of service, so that the Kingdom of God may be established and not just mans own little empires.
